Stephen A. Smith blasts Tiger Woods after DUI arrest

ESPN's Stephen A. Smith sharply criticized Tiger Woods on "First Take" following the golfer's arrest on driving under the influence charges after a rollover crash in Florida. Smith dismissed Woods' concerns about privacy in not hiring a driver and stressed the danger of repeated incidents. "You’re lucky you didn’t kill somebody," Smith said.

Woods faced charges of DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a blood alcohol test after the March 27, 2026, crash in Martin County. He pleaded not guilty and requested a jury trial. Police found two hydrocodone pills in his pocket, according to an affidavit.

This arrest marks Woods' second DUI in a decade, following a 2017 incident on Jupiter Island where he was asleep behind the wheel after taking prescription drugs. Woods also sustained serious leg injuries in a 2021 Los Angeles rollover crash, where police found an empty pill bottle but filed no charges. Smith highlighted these as the third time law enforcement caught Woods impaired behind the wheel.

Woods announced he would step away from golf to seek treatment for his health and well-being. He recently declined the Ryder Cup captaincy.
