Williams Returns to Full Practice, Rebuffs Questions on Injury Grade
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams took part in a full practice Thursday for the first time in nearly a month as he works back from a hamstring injury, but his availability for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons remains unresolved. His news conference turned tense when reporters pressed him to disclose the medical grade of the injury, which he declined to do.
Williams called the injury a "pretty serious" hamstring tear but would not specify its severity, telling reporters who sought clarification that doing so was "not deserving." He used part of a five-minute opening statement to criticize national reports that had characterized the injury as a Grade 2 strain with a defined recovery timeline, saying "there's nothing that has come out that has been right about what it is and what it has been." betting on water polo
Williams was hurt late in Chicago's Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 20, pulling up during a fourth-quarter scramble toward the end zone before being carted off the field in visible distress. He described feeling "a pop" and instinctively looking back, assuming he had been grabbed, though no defender was near him. He also addressed the emotional reaction to being carted off, saying he will "always show emotion," particularly when sidelined from his teammates, and that criticism of that reaction does not affect him.
Williams said he has undergone five to six hours of daily rehabilitation and recently reached top sprint speeds in workouts. Despite logging consecutive full-practice designations this week, he said his status for Sunday remains undetermined pending further medical evaluation, adding that the team will wait if he is not fully cleared.
